It does have a number of game types, though, including deathmatches, campaigns and team objective matches, and it allows you to set up special team-oriented features such as command centres and fire teams. It lacks broad support for land, sea and air vehicles, which would have added a lot to the game. ![]() The on-line expansion pack's weakness is that the action takes place primarily on foot. There's also an innovative twist, though - a covert operations specialist who is relatively lightly armed, but who can impersonate enemy soldiers to infiltrate bases. Like most other on-line WWII shooters, you can play as an Allied or Axis medic, foot soldier, engineer, and so on, each with their own special abilities. The maps are extensive and the action is fast and furious. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is an expansion pack that only offers on-line play. The AI controlling the enemy isn't very sneaky, but there's lots of action, both indoor and outdoor, and the maps are large and detailed. The game starts out as a pretty straightforward Allied-good-guy versus Axis-bad-guys shooter, and gets progressively more bizarre as the undead start showing up. The Germans are researching the occult and creating undead zombie soldiers, and it's your job to escape the Nazi dungeon and put a stop to their plans. Return to Castle Wolfenstein you're an allied operative who is captured trying to infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein, a Nazi research centre. The price is right, too - at press time for this article it was selling for less than $30 (U.S.). Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Platinum Edition's graphics are a getting a little dated, it can still hold its own because it's a great game.
